Our mission statement

Here are the reasons why we are sending a rover to Io, one of the moons of Jupiter. Io is a moon of jupiter, and is one of the four that were discovered by Galileo. It is 2.3% of the size of Earth. We are visiting to study the geologic activity, being that is has more geologic activity than any other body in the solar system. Due to that, one of the tools we intend to bring with us is a seismograph. Seismographs are used to measure earthquakes. It is basically a machine that when it feels tremors in the earth, it magnifies them and records them. Over time, we hope to use this tool to further our understanding of the extreme geological activity on a moon that shouldnt be like that. On our rover, we would add a Panoramic camera. This would allow us to determine the texture, color, mineralogy, and the structure of the local terrain. Mineralogy is the study of rocks. We will also be using a Miniature Thermal Emission Spectrometer. This will allow us to identify promising rocks rocks and soils for closer examination, and tell us what they are made up of.
